FAQ Friday: Explaining Peace Corps to Family & Friends

It’s the start of the weekend and you know what that means… another FAQ Friday is here to give you important information about Volunteering with Peace Corps! If you are considering applying or have already do so, it’s a good idea to discuss

your decision with your family and friends because the love and encouragement from folks “back home” is tremendously helpful for Volunteers as they embark on the experience of a lifetime. However, you may be unsure of how to go about doing this and what information is most important to tell friends and family. Well…

Q: How can I provide my family and friends with pertinent information about my decision to Volunteer with Peace Corps?

A: Take a look at our recently updated Family and Friends Guide to the Peace Corps! This booklet is designed to help answer the most frequently asked questions and provide information that can facilitate a supportive role in the Volunteers’ success. This includes information on health, safety, visitation, family emergencies, volunteer benefits, and more! The guide is available in English, Spanish, Mandarin, and Korean!

See you next week! Have a good weekend despite the rain! And look at this awesome photo taken by a Volunteer serving in Burkina Faso; her host family is looking at photos of the Volunteer’s own family that were sent to her during her service!
